"I
have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives
in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,
who
loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
Dear Friends and Family:
WOW!! It's been a REALLY long time since I've written! So
much has
happened in the last few months that it's hard to know where to begin,
but
I'll try to give you a brief synopsis of what I've been up to...
In August I visited South Dakota, where I was reunited with my family
and
friends. I also made a one-week trip up to Edmonton, where
I was able to
reconnect with a few of my friends from Taylor University College and
attend a Japanese Bible camp. My grandma passed away on August
3rd so all
of my family was able to attend the memorial service. Isn't it
amazing how
God times things so perfectly?! My parents and I flew back to
Japan on the
16th and they are happy to be back in Japan after a year of home
assignment:)
English conversation classes started up again in September after after
a
month of holidays. Renelda Friesen, our newest DTM (defined term
missionary) arrived in Japan on September 14th. My teaching schedule
was
rearranged quite a bit so that my classes would be located mainly in
the
Tsu area, thus enabling me to focus on student evanglism at Mie University.
God has given me a burden for people my age and I'm praying that
God will
use me as a light in my community. I teach 2 private classes on
the
university campus, so I'm thankful for the relationships that I'm building
with my students. I was able to have lunch in the cafeteria with
2 of my
university friends, so that was really cool!
Joy Chapel continues to be an exciting place to be on Sunday nights!
On
Oct. 23, Yoko Yoshikawa was baptized! She heard the gospel for
the first
time when she was in college and was lead to Joy Chapel last year.
She
faithfully attends Joy Chapel every week with her 6-year-old son, Seitaro.
Her husband came to church for the first time that morning to see her
baptism. Praise the Lord for the new life that Yoko-san has received
in
Christ! We also had a Prayer Team from the Edmonton Japanese Christian
Church as guests that night. I had attended this church while
I attended
college, so it was great to have fellowship with the 5 members of this
team. They gave testimonies, sang songs and Pastor Yuri Nakano
gave the
message. There were 48 people there that night! Two of my
students came
with their families, which was a huge blessing. I was surprised
to see the
mother of one of my high school classmates there too! Praise for
how God
is using the ministry of Joy Chapel to speak his love and joy into the
hearts of many!
As always, thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement.
What a
blessing it is to know that I have an army of brothers & sisters
praying
for me and for the salvation of Japan. Please continue to pray
that God's
glory would shine across this nation and that the people would turn
back to
Him. May God bless you in your walk with Him.
Love in HIM,
Becky
Praise:
*for how God has been working in the lives of many who attend Joy Chapel.
*for the many seeds that were sown by the Edmonton Prayer Team.
*for how God works in supernatural ways to turn His people back to Him
Pray:
*for Nozomu and Yuichi who are preparing for baptism, and for Hisashi
who
is earnestly seeking the Truth.
*that God would use Yoko-san as a testimony to her husband and family
*On Nov. 6 (Sun), I am attending the wedding of my best friend from
high
school. I've been asked to give a speech so I'm thinking of sharing
the
passage about faith, hope and love. Please pray that Jesus' love
would
shine through me and touch the hearts of my friends (none of whom are
Christians).
*for us as we start preparing for Christmas, that we would be able to
share
the true meaning of Christmas with many.
