Did You Know?  A Backward Glance at our 2025/26 AWANA Year . . .

Did you know…?

*AWANA has been around for 7 decades?  Here at SRBC, we have been a part of AWANA since 1988.

*AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from II Timothy 2:15?

*AWANA is a global ministry, serving in 140 countries worldwide?

*The AWANA program reaches more than 10 million kids every week?  Our weekly impact in the Steamboat Rock area reaches 80 to 100 kids.

*The AWANA curriculum and discipleship program is designed for kids ages 2-18?  The clubs are called Puggles, Cubbies, Sparks, Truth and Training (T&T), Trek, and Journey. Our own church has Cubbies (Pre-K), Sparks (K-2nd), and T&T (3-5th).

*Over 470,000 volunteers participate weekly in their local church’s AWANA program? It takes almost 40 volunteers to run our AWANA program from week to week.

*AWANA programs can be found in prisons, refugee camps, slums, and many hard-to-reach areas in our world?

*AWANA missionaries serve regions in the United States and in other countries of the world? 260 field staff serve in the United States and across the globe. Our field missionary, Brenda Cole, serves churches in Iowa and Minnesota.

*This year our Awana Clubbers raised over $700 to buy water filters for a Missions group called Filter of Hope whose mission is to spread Jesus’ love and Gospel message to families who do not have a safe water supply.

*Our AWANA evening is comprised of three parts: Games, Small Group (learning verses), and Large Group (devotional)?

*The first Wednesday night of each month is called Family Meal Night? All AWANA families are invited to eat a meal together and then continue to stay for a special focus night.  These have included Star Wars Night, Soup & Sammies, our annual Gingerbread Bash for Christmas, and this past Easter a Legos and Eggos Night-building the story of Easter.

*A highlight of each year is the Grand Prix where the T&T clubbers build and race their own pine derby car?

*The final AWANA Club night of the school year is our Awards Night where outstanding work is acknowledged? This year’s theme was Awana Awards and Talent Show.

*Do You Know that our AWANA Club needs YOU to help our boys and girls know Jesus? We need leaders, listeners, game directors, teachers for the Cubbies, devotional leaders, kitchen help, bus drivers and riders, and we all can pray.  We will be looking for you in September when our next year’s AWANA program starts again!
