Wings of Refuge

This month we would like to feature Wings of Refuge located in Ames, IA. Their web site if http://wingsofrefuge.net.   If you wish to contact them by mail their address is PO Box 2455, Ames IA 50010, or by phone: 515-310-0200.

When this organization first began, Wings of Refuge was located in Iowa Falls.  It out grew the house it was located in and had to relocate to better serve the cliental who were in need.

They are a Christ-centered organization that provides opportunities for healing and restoration to survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Their mission: so exploitation ends for one more girl

Their vision: That every survivor will know she is valued, has hope, and is loved by Jesus.

In Galatians 6:9, Paul encourages the Galatians to persist in doing good and not to lose heart.  He reminds them that God will reward their efforts in due time.

Throughout 2024, they have frequently used the phrase “unprecedented season” as they serve more women and operate more facilities than at any previous time in their ministry’s history.  Not only are they serving more women, but they are seeing them stay in the program longer and work through deeper levels of their trauma.  It’s common for survivors to try various living arrangements and programs before they can settle in, trust the process, and commit to their healing journey.  Despite these hurdles, we are seeing these women successfully transition from the restoration home to the transitional living center and eventually to independent living.

Thanks to supporters like us and volunteers the mission of Wings has come to bear its current harvest as pointed out in Galatians 6:9.Their progress is the result of the time, energy, and determination of many individuals who have come before us, as well as those who continue to join the mission today.

Their prayer is that Wings will continue to be supported by people like us to reach out to the victims of these crimes.  Healing from trauma can de messy, and there are heartbreaks and disappointments along the journey. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap a beautiful harvest if we do not give up.
